SEAFOAMING
... and if that's the case, then 1 to 1.5 oz per quart means about 9 oz max, or half a 16 oz bottle into the crankcase, so that feller over on Swedespeed will probably be just fine regarding the amount added to the crankcase. It just depends on whether he used the 16 oz bottle or the bigger (I think its)40oz bottle/can. He just needs to change that oil right away.

So I just seafoamed my 98 s70 glt - 224k and with in a day I developed an insane oil leak, it was leaking one before, but now I loose at least a quart a day ????
I just did an oild change yesterday and didnt even drive that much at all (i added 6 quarts of oil) and after I drove it for about 30 minutes today I checked the dipstick and it was at or just below the L ??? what gives
I havent checked yet if its the RMS or the oil return line for the turbo but I think it might be both I see oil - a lot of it in both places. It war raining today and I parked for a few minutes, when I came back to the car - which was off, there was a huge colorful stain growing quite rapidly on the pavement.
to note - when I first got the car 2 months ago - it had absolutely no leaks from what I could tell it was parked in the same spot for a week and there were no spots on the ground and no wet spots on the bottom of the engine.

RMS probably. Seafoam would only make it worse.

Nonsense. ATF is a thin hydraulic oil with the friction modifier addtives to make it work well in the AT clutches. It contains no detergents. If you really want to de-gunk your motor try ATF
Seafoam and all the rest of the solvent-type fluids do little in the crankcase. They thin the oil and reduce the protection the oil provides to the engine bearings. The thinning of the oil helps it drain out more, a slightly good thing when changing the type of oil, say from conventional to synthetic, but isn't really necessary...just get the oil good & hot.
The most effective and safest thing to clean the engine and recondition the seals is Auto-Rx for engine, transmission, and power steering...different instructions for each.

AutoRx takes time- several thousand miles so read up on it (do a google search). It could help your RMS (but there are not guarantees), if you are now using synthetic oil, especially since you have to do the AutoRx treatment with conventional oil and not synthetic oil.
