Excellent documentation, I followed your directions and it was exactly as you said. 2001 V70, who knew the siren could control the sunroof, of course mine quit just before a downpoor. I opened the module as you did and found exactly the same thing, I tried to go a little further by removing the transformer from the board and using some tarnish remover to clean the corrosion, in the pictures you can see where the copper was missing. I should have used the conductive product used to repair rear window defrosters to repair the connections but got sloppy and tried to solder jumpers around the breaks. I put the transformer on the wrong side of the board when reassembling and when trying to remove a second time pulled the leads out of the transformer. Moral, have patients if trying to repair the board. Now I'll never know if it would have worked. New unit installed, works fine. Thanks again

Not that I know of.
I saw a used module on Ebay for $80.
Or you could try www.vandsautodismantlers.com or www.erievovo.com

There's a guy over on the Volvo UK forum that is selling siren kits:
The full siren kit includes:
* Siren [9452709 x1]
* Bonnet Catch with Microswitch for alarm [9483764 x1]
* Security Bolt [986937 x1]
* Black Plastic Headed Undershield Rivets [979878 x10]
* Plastic Clips [3541113 x11]
* A pair of new window alarm decals [9162875 x2]
* 5A Blade Fuse [967851 x1]
This Siren Kit (9499758) sells for £83.56 delivered (standard parcel force) in the UK.
This is about $127 US at today's exchange rate. I PMd him to see if he will ship to the US and what the total cost will be. I'll update when I get the info.
UPDATE:
Well unfortunately the shipping on the kit is 40 British Pounds so the total comes up to about the same as just buying a siren here in the US. But, it does come with the extras listed above, so you might want to order it anyway to get those. Here's the info I got from Rufe:

Good info! I replace my siren last night. It's not really a module though. It's a UEM (upper electronic module) peripheral device. Which is why when it shorts out it can make seemingly unrelated things, like the sunroof (also controlled by UEM), go completely haywire.
Anywho, FWIW, some mental notes I made (before I forget): Vadis says turn wheel all way to right and you can access... well, maybe if car is on a lift but that didn't work for me. I did find I could turn the wheel all the way to the left and with spare tire on there was enough room. So I used car's own jack in regular location, then a second jack in spot where lift usually connects, and with spare on I figured I had triple redundancy to proceed with the operation.
After drilling out rivets as described I used a Dremel tool with cutoff wheel to remove the security bolt. Tried cutting a slot in the head and using a screwdriver first but couldn't get that !@#$ to turn. Funny thing is after lopping off head completely and removing old siren the remaining stem almost fell out by itself, go figure. I riveted the new siren in place using some extra long pop rivets I got online. Same place also sent me black pop rivets which I used to re-secure the wheel well liner -- later that evening I noticed IPD sells the proper Volvo-style pop rivets too BTW.
And lastly I cleared the UEM-0004 code that triggers the "alarm service required" message with my http://www.ppc-diagnostic.com tool. No other configuration is required, my siren/alarm is 100% functional. So don't feed the Stealership! It only makes them hungrier and more aggressive.
EDIT: This is the extra long rivet I used in place of security bolt that was forcibly removed. Best thing since sliced bread.

Yes. Use the remote to lock/unlock three times and the Upper Electronic Module is reset (supposedly), allowing the alarm to function with the new module. Worked for me.dcarlson12 wrote:Regarding the lock/unlock three times procedure, is this using the remote or ?
