Just for kicks, pull up the carpet under the driver's foot well and see if it's damp. It came to me when reading a post on another thread that you could have some stank radiator fluid which is leaking from your heater core- this would explain a few things you're experiencing- not a hard repair (not expensive either), and maybe not at all- but just check to make sure.

Pretty dry there. It normally comes in when I have the windows or moon roof cracked...sort of a back draft odor so it appears.

It sounds like you are creating a through draft and the smell maybe coming from your A/c or evaporator and you are smelling mould. A clogged evaporator or dirty air cabin filter could give you odd smells.

My car also has a moldy/mildewy smell to it but it is different than the oil smell. The oil smell has a chemical smell to it.

850NA, also check your oil filler cap seal. I just replaced mine. The old seal was extremely tough to the touch. The new seal cost $0.75 from Car Quest/World Pak and that should reduce the amount of oil accumulating on top of my engine. I did have the PCV system changed out but oil still accumulated due to the bad seal (at least hopefully, I will know after running it for a few weeks).

ditto on the mysterious odor.... it's kinda growing on me now, like mold... I thought it was just inherent to the car... I've had a few benz's, bmw's and audi's / vw's that had their own brand of odor - thought it was vehicular pheromones.
will run through the things that are mentioned here and report back... i *know* my PCV is honked (puddles on top o'the head)...
I did recall smelling that same smell on the 855 turbo wagon that I've been harvesting spare parts from... it was when I was trying to yank the turbo off and I started removing the coolant lines... hmm..
