I know this is an old thread but I had the exact same problem and every search ended up here with no final verdict. I removed the throttle body and cleaned both sides. Only needed a flat head screw driver to remove intake tube, a 10mm socket wrench to remove 4 bolts holding the throttle body on, a small brush and some carb cleaner. I did not unplug the electrical connection, had plenty of room to clean the inside of the throttle body with it still plugged in. The gasket was even reusable. Took about 15 minutes and anyone can do it. So far it seems to have worked!!!!

When slowing down, the idle drops to around 500 rpm rather than the normal of about 800-900. I have a manual shift, so this is happening when the clutch is depressed and not in gear. Once the car stops, the idle goes back to normal. It is just in the time that I am slowing down that the car idles rough. Any idea what may be causing this? This has caused my car to shut off a few times in the past (losing power steering around a corner at 30 mph is not fun).

Thought the same exact symptoms were from using hot glue to fill the upper engine mount, basically making it a solid mount. The drop in RPM has been going on for sometime. With the now solid mount it made the car shake, especially in neutral much more obvious and the dip in RPM made it just horrific to drive. Needed to shift out of gear when braking for a turn or coming to a stop or the car felt like a manual lugging in gear coming to a stop.

Cleaned the ETM and WOW! Car is so much smoother overall and absolutely no RPM dip when braking. Hope that was it.
.
Blessings,
