240 not shifting into high

I read the reply and found that I too could have a short in the wire, etc... however, my transmission will kick into overdrive but only after 20 min of driving. the light for the arrow -- the over drive off -- goes on and off without effect until the car is hot and goes into overdrive, then I can kick it out. which problem is associated with this occurance?

I Have The same prolem with a 91 940 GLE - replaced the OD relay - flushed tranny - no improvement ---- How did you fix yours?

I have an 87 240 wagon automatic. Want to buy the overdrive relay on amazon but it says 1987 244 Volvo. It is the same car right?

What is the 244 designation?

242= 240 2 door
244= 240 4 door sedan
245= 240 Wagon (tailgate is 5th door)

Thanks. My OD light is stuck on and it won't shift into 4th. Going to buy that relay on amazon and try it.

Anyone know of a link to a video of how to swap it? Saw some drawings.
