Droopy Sun Visor

Old topic but I need to ask the gurus about the "mirror door".

I don't have battery drain issues but want to fix the driver's side visor issue (pass side is OK).
When the visor is all the way up (sunny day), the "mirror door" drops down due to gravity, not much but a few mm, not enough to activate the light bulbs on the mirror.
Does anyone know where I can buy the tiny springs that keep the "mirror door" up.
Any DIY instructions or this is straight forward.

Again, the crux of the problem is the "mirror door", not the visor itself.

Although not the most professional looking repair, a bit of cereal box (or equivalent weight) cardboard folded into a narrow strip that wedges into the clip and effectively wraps around the bar on the visor as it inserts into the clip can be effective.

I was interested to see that you say the sun-visor wire is under the dash. Last year I replaced the LH sun-visor on a 98 V70XC and the connector is 2/3rds of the way down the LH window pillar. Pulled the cover off which is a snap fit if I remember and of it came. Used a piece of wire attached to the old wires when removing the old wires, and used that to pull the replacement back through. Whole job took about 10 minutes, then had to re-do it as the 'new' visor had the garage door remote in it and it was faulty causing the battery to drain! Old one went back in.

If you are concerned it is draining the battery, do a current draw test to narrow down the ciuit and then to figure out what is on the circuit that could be the culprit, by disconnection each item in turn.

My 1999 C70 has/had this issue and I tried the "Velcro" thing. Didn't hold up for long. I found a .01 ( cent) solution ) but it'll only work on the convertible and you won't be able to use the visor anymore. I made two loops out of clear fishing line and with the visor unattached at one end I inserted the loops around the visor, one at approximately each end of it. Then I took two toothpicks ( one for each loop that was now around the visor at each end, and I stuck each toothpick under the looped line ( between the visor and the line ) and I made a couple twists to take the slack out of each loop.) Next I gently lifted the front windshield top gasket that the top comes down to rest along and I inserted each toothpick parallel to the gasket, but underneath/beside it and I gently pushed the gasket back into place. With all the slack taken out of the two loops of line, and with the visor pushed all the way up when the toothpicks were placed between the windshield gasket and the window frame, the visor stays up, snugly flush as it was before it broke, and because the nylon loops of line are clear ( and strong), the visor, in over 5 years, hasn't budged! Okay, I know this process sounds silly, but the whole "fix" took less than 5 minutes,but you might have to remember to tell any passenger seat occupants NOT to try to use the visor because the "fix" is really not noticeable, and if the visor was given a good tug the loops might break. Give it a try... It's certainly worth a couple cents and 5 minutes of your time...or at least it was for me !

I have found visors for cheap in junkyards. For some reason folks like to cut the wires. I'll never know why. Remove the A pillar trim and the wire unclips. Once the drooping starts, replacement is your only long term fix option.

My Sun visor plastic part broke from heat stroke, I live in the desert. Do I have to replace the whole visor (yes) or does anyone have any make shift ideals I will probably go to the JY to see how to disconnect the mirror if no one has any quick fix right now I have it taped up w/ duck tape holding it up by the liner handle. Really need my visor out here

I fixed mine, cosmetically it doesn't look all that but who really looks it works better than ever. went to home depot I got like a looked like a light switch cover but made with a bendable type plastic something I could work with(gray in color) without cracking. I took a utility knife cut a round hole where the first screw is to the left take a same thread screw 1-1/2 in. Longer. cut other end like an L shape to go around visor rod for support hold. The trick is where first screw is. Use same thread screw only a 1-1/2 in. Longer. Another thing just cut the plastic piece down enough to cover where the screws are.
