It is easy to have your Volvo shop guy tell you that it could be this problem or that problem and then have you spend lots of bucks only to have up arrow problem reappear. I know, I spent lots of bucks and the arrow reappeared. I'll try you simple fix and see if the light goes away. I really appreciate your honest fix.

I read in a forum somewhere that turning the ignition switch to the 2nd position without starting the car and holding your foot on the brake and moving the shift lever from park through all of the gears several times will clean the contacts and solve the problem. It seems to work for me.
