Thank you for the "Good Oil" especially billofdurham.

My daughters Volvo 240 Gl has stood for several years with little use and the brake warning light is now on.
No leaks and the brakes are soft.
Puzzled my mechanic but fluid has not been changed for years and moisture uptake is most likely cause.
Will now bleed and replace.

If brakes are firm when pedal is pumped, but slowly travels to floor when car is stopped (say at a red light), that is most certainly a leaking master cylinder.
