Put in the Abs sensor and the abs light is now off. The tracs light comes on after 10 minutes or so, and also I still have the check engine and service transmission message.

Does anyone know what the system checks for to determine whether the TRACS light comes on or stays off? It seems like mine stays off until I reach a speed of 50mph, then turns on and it doesn't turn off if I slow down. When I turn off the car and back on again...the TRACS light stays off until 50mph or so.

Have you altered the tires/wheels from OEM? Or are they worn unevenly? If the the tires/wheels are unevenly worn, or if you've got non-OEM wheel sizes on, the wheel sensors won't report consistent results to the computer, which may trigger the traction-control s/w to think there's a problem.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Skeeter,

So is the TRACS light circuit a simple diagnosis of the wheel speed sensors or is there more to it?

I have changed the tires, but with OEM sizes. The tracs light was coming on at higher speeds with the old tires and now with the new tires, so I don't think that is it. I have also changed the front right wheel sensor, I will have another look to see if it is installed correctly, or if it has picked up any dirt.

Also, of late I am hearing a noise that tends to get louder with acceleration. I think I am getting a faulty wheel bearing. Don't know how to diagnose wether it is front or back but it is louder when on the highway turning left then when turning right. I wonder if this could relate to a bit of play and an abstract reading of the sensor which is triggering the TRACS light.

I had a similar sound - only happened when I turned right. I had my ABS, CEL and STC lights on and it turned out to be a loose axle bolt. Caused enough play that the sensor was likely missing the hub. And by loose, I mean the bolt was all the way out and was only being held in by the center cap on the wheel.

Hmmmm, sounds like you got lucky that more damage didn`t happen. Mine was the rear wheel hub. $100 bucks off ebay and an easy install fixed it up. But Im still getting the tracs light coming on after about 1km of travel...everytime. Wish I could figure this one out!

That exactly what's going on with my car, ABS and check engine light is always on , but when that brake light is on , I know I'm gonna look down and see my MY mileage turn to dashes and my speedometer not work.Turn car off and most the time it reboots computer. Other times I have to shifts myself other times it does not effect it. Codes say it's tranny speed sensor, the car can send confused codes , no?
