Looks like I was pushed over the edge to wood! I am going to post pics shortly. the dash I have has typical cracking around the defrost area. I was going to grind the cracks into crevices and fill, sand and paint them. Anyone have any luck with doing this? I am slightly concerned since this area is subject to temp changes.

Throw up some pictures and we might be able to figure out if the panels are factory or aftermarket. My OEM woodgrain trim in the Platinum has not cracking whatsoever - I think they are the only factory plastic part on the car that hasn't broken yet.

Will post. It is factory wood, the wood is NOT cracking, the defroster area is (like every other 850). thanks!

Here it is. I pulled this from a local yard out of 97 T5. Best part of is the $40.00 price for dash, shift bezel (upper and lower)and shift handle. Lots of 850s in the local u-pull it yards!

you are lucky in the US, here in the UK I have been searching for a centre console and shifter in wood like that, they just are not available here.

My '97 850 T5 has a more pleasant look because it's got the "wood" dash inlays. My '04 V70 R has a decidedly "hi-tech but low-rent" look because of the simple black plastic everywhere.
