Gotcha. I change about every 5-6000. I haven't yet made the jump to High Mileage, but I just picked up a case of 12 qts of the plain Mobil-1 for under $50Oh, I have to mention that I'm NOT using EP for my 96 since its "cleaning agent" could cause older engine leak. Use HM (high mileage) mobil 1 would be my suggestion.

It depends on the condition of the engine seals, the strong detergent will wash away most deposits along with deteriorated parts of seals. I suppose any engine over 150k/15yr would be considered as old. BTW, HM oil usually contains "seal conditioner ", which makes seals swell a bit.dasapir wrote:At what point does one consider the "cleaning agent" possibly detrimental for an engine.
