I don't know what you were looking at? I can see, even from that terrible shot, the paint looks like crap.
Both bumpers are shot
The right side looks especially bad including the dented front fender
Even the headlights are scratched from the owner not replacing the small headlight blades
All around the wheel wells looks bad and those seats are an abomination...all of them!
You can easily see the rips, tears and cracked leather in the ad so I don't know why you're so upset.
Nothing seems to be hidden here, you gots what you paid for.

It looks pretty bad in pictures
So prey tell.....why did you bother mentioning the seats if you already knew about them?
BTW...Don't you think that this:
"This color combination is one of the best and has sharp paint with some fading of clearcoat especially on top surfaces. The only cosmetic items noticed were few gravel chips on the nose, and the usual light scratches and bumper scuffs customary with a family vehicle of this era".
Would be a RED flag?
When a seller states this, it's usually 10 times worse!
No one overstates the obvious plus if the clear coat is peeling it's had (poor) prior paintwork.
RARELY (if ever) does original factory paint clear coat peel
