As far as that particular situation being a health hazard - no way. That air track is completely separate from the cabin air system. I don't know what people in other places experience, but I see this at least once a week and it is more uncommon to not see mouse terds and chewed acorn shells on intake manifolds than to see them. And occasionally I do get the customer who comes in with the," my car smells like rotten meat when I turn on the heat". Dead mouse in the fresh air intake. Just hope it's been dead long enough to be jerky.

It wouldn't hurt to check out the cabin air intake under the windshield wiper area. If you have a cabin air filter, replace it with a nice fresh charcoal activated one. If you don't, you can add one easily. I actually have an extra frame for one of those if somebody wants one.

Just because you only find the remnants of a mouse in one area doesn't mean there aren't remnants of a mouse in a different area. This is a health hazard as that mouse could have traveled to other areas in the car.

I was tuning up my brothers old camry when I saw pieces of dog food lying around the engine compartment. I took off the airbox and there was about a quart of pea sized dog food in the bottom of his airbox! I have no idea how long he'd been driving it like that but it certainly ran much better when I cleaned it out.

I have had customers put rat poison is thier air boxes. I think that is more hazardous to your health than a mouse so I would not recommend it. Speaking of dead mice I had a customer come in with water sloshing around in thier climate box. I thought, oh easy it is a plugged drain tube for the climate box. I pulled the drain tube off and a mouse tail was hanging down. What was really gross was I (with rubber gloves on) tried to pull it out by the tail and the meat stripped right off the bone (gag!). Two gallons of death water and had to pull the climate box to disinfect/extract mouse. That has to be the worst job I ever had to do.

This is how cats have earned a place in human households.

I have little love for the disloyal, disobedient little buggers, but they do have two purposes:

* they control the rodent population around your home, and
* they are a perfectly sized toy for the dog to f**k with.

This in turn encourages the cat to spend its time hiding under, and thus guarding, the car.

ok i went to check if i had a cabin filter and i did not but i saw the same cotton like ball you have in you air box. witch i guess could be pretty bad, sense that's were all the cabin air comes from. Just take the left side of the cowl of and check it out trust me all they gotta do is pretty much jump on top the car squeeze through the cowl vent. this must of been from the po cause he said it was sitting a while in his garage.

My wife has a impala that she was complaining of being sluggish so I decided to take a look at the filter. To my surprise there was a plastic food lion bag plastered to the underside of the filter! That's luck lol. Told her to dodge the flying bags from now on. She is the only person I know that that could happen to LOL.
