Thanks for that, at one point I though about that - forgot to ask, wasn't sure if that was an area I should put a torch to. Yea, it's really really froze in there bad.

Good luck.
I like this idea too, thank you for the help. Though I think, at least without heat, it would just tear/twist the 'body' up and not budge the actual sensor any closer to being out. It really does seem like it's "fused" into the exhaust.

Looks like I'll be buying a propane tank this coming friday and trying again.

Thank you guys!

Your not trying to save the O2 sensor but you want to be easy with your front pipe there. Normally I'd heat up the area where the threading resides, you still need to turn sensor with your wrench. I had to fire mine up til it literally was glowing, then waited briefly before I placed my wrench to remove. Good wrenching and don't forget eye protection at all times.

Looks like I'm going to have to replace my o2 sensor less than a year later. I bought a NGK/NTK brand sensor from Napa auto parts but I guess my 850 doesn't like that brand. Nissans and Hondas usually like that brand of O2's in my experience. Any suggestions on what brand to get this time ? I was thinking about checking out what FCP groton or IPD is selling. Thanks.

Get a cheap nut splitter. Put it across the oxy sensor and start to tighten down on to it.

Which will give you this:

Remove with a socket and an extension bar.

You get this:

But more importantly, this:

Job done!

I found a bosch 13877 O2 sensor for $15.44 on amazon, shipping as we speak. I don't usually trust Bosch because the the terrible quality of their spark plugs but I couldn't pass up this price. 4 wire sensor listed for a 2005 Neon.

Yeah it's weird, spark plugs and HT leads + Bosch = FAIL.

It's plug n play compatible for the volvo 850? Or you gotta use old connector?

No idea, I guess i'll find out. Crimping 4 wires isn't enough to scare me away from a good deal. The wire colors are the same, 2 white, 1 black 1 gray.
