I'm sure those instructions work, don't mean to dispute that. But just some points of discussion here: That guide has you removing the fuel pump relay, is that right? If you are going after the pump, just pulling the fuse seems easier.
Also, if you are disabling the pump then waiting to do that until just before the test isn't so great. The lines will still be full of fuel when you start the test, so for the first several cranks a lot of fuel will still spray into the cylinders. Better to pull the fuse (or relay) with the warm car running, let the car use up the fuel in the lines and until it sputters out. It will run for several minutes - there is a fair bit of fuel in those lines.
