Are they Michelin, size and are they directional?

My gut says tie rods. I'm about to put new TRs in my 850 T after a. having similar behavior and b. replacing everything else.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link

The toe should be set faintly toe out. On lots of FWD volvos over the years they reduced toe-in and then on some they changed specs to a very slight toe out. The lower control arm bushings being worn makes pull under brake and drive much worse as it lets settings change under stress.

I just put the Michelins back on until the Snow flies again in late Fall. They are asymetrical 215/45R17 I think. My wife is using it today. The tires I used for Winter are studless Hankook Ice Bears and they behave exactly the same. So I can fairly well rule out tires. With the slight mods to the specs for alignment can anyone send me specs to give the tech when I have it done next? I'll replace a few other pieces first (see above).

Thznks for everything, guys!

Many good mechanics are not suspension competent as they do not have an interest in car driving as many enthusiast. Bring it to a local shop who can talk suspension and alignment and have the car shaken down before the next alignment as the pull during braking tells you something is not right unless you have problem with the brakes but it is not likely as you have that excessive torque steer along with the brake pull.

Torque steer is part of the characteristics of front wheel drive and with two different length shafts it does not help the cause. Torque steer also is characteristic of tire problems and sometimes it is eliminated by cross rotating the two front tires and Michelin for years have this problem on and off depending on which model of tire. Directional ones of course you can not cross rotate.

The grooves in the road is not a good answer as some roads do not have the grooves and you still have the torque steer and pull under braking. Need to cross rotate (if possible) and then check brakes also to eliminate that but I think a competent suspension mechanic can figure it out. As for the Alignment spec it is in the Alignment machine and depending on your needs your tech can adjust accordingly but because it is a daily driver it should be set to factory specs. Hope the info helps or else I am just rambling.

Blessing,
