I think it is a N/A S70 because i didn´t see a T5 badge on the back. What does the PCV do? If the PCV doesn´t work what happens to the car? I think the car that I am looking at needs front shocks. I found some monroe shocks on amazon for 50 each. Does the volvo have good air conditioning? it gets real hot over her. Do the volvos have sturdy undercarriage? We have a lot of potholes here.

PCV vents crankcase vapors that slip past the piston rings as the motor runs. If it clogs up, that pressure begins to force its way out crankcase seals and starts leaking oil everywhere. Pull out the dipstick at idle and check for smoke, as mentioned.

The AC is quite good if it works.

You may find these cars ride rough over bumps, but that is normal. They're built tough; I went off-road up to a lake and gashed the bottom of my subframe with a huge rock and it's still sturdy. Do not use Monroe shocks; they'll completely ruin the cars handling. Go with Sachs or Blistein Tc if you need them.

What is so bad about the monroe shocks? I would like to get the bilstein or sachs schocks however those are more expensive than the monroes. How would i check for a leaking evaporator?

I really like the simplicity of the 98. Only recalls i heard was something with the lights and the clutch.

Monroe's quality has gone down over the years. Been using them since the late 70's and as recently as mid 2000'.

Installed these March this year. Read the comments. Another member also did the same and so far so good it looks like

I think jblackburn answered your question about what's wrong with Monroes for the Volvos. Perhaps it's not that Monroes are particularly bad it's just that the bump/rebound valving of the OEM Sachs is extremely well suited to these cars so they give tolerable ride with tolerable to good handling.
Monroes have been reported to ride very soft which is fine for city use however if you require the car to save your life by making a sudden change of direction don't expect the car to respond accurately to steering input.

Isn't this why we buy Volvos and most European cars? It's called superior dynamics.

Well i like volvo and would like to get one because they make safe cars and plus they look pretty well. Plus i like volvo for ideological reasons, sweden has been considered as one of the most highly developed societies of oir current age. Scandinavia as a whole some consider to be the crown of civilization so to speak: highly developed economies, the rule of law is respected, equal distribution of wealth somewhat.

Anyways thats just one of the many reasons i like volvo and now if i could just lower the seller on the price i think i might be driving one soon.

What brand of ac compressor does volvo use?

I like that volvo has good looking cars and has a roomy interior. Does the s70 come with radio with usb support? Does the s70 have abs?
