Yeah...been down that road. Hindsight and all.
It's amazing how easy it seems once it's fixed.
I guess that's why we keep fixing things.
Leaves are darn near gone in Fairbanks now.
But I'm in Cali this week. Supposed to be over
100 here in the Bay area tomorrow! Still plenty
of leaves here.
Hey guys. I've got a 98xc70. Having a big issue. Not getting any spark
I've bought the with blown engine and did a full rebuild. But was cheap in that time havent put a new timing kit. The car ran fine for 10k. Unfortunately, few days back went to the grocery store, parked the came back after few minutes started the backed then boom the car turned off. Cranked it no luck. I had a bad battery and then few cranks drained the battery. I called my wife jumped the car cranked it few times nothing. Sounded like no spark cause I could smell gas. Plugged off the maf sensor still no spark. Thought it could be cam sensor or crank sensor. Went to the junkyard got 1 of each for $10. Put it on there still nothing. I was freaked out and bought new cam and crank sensor for $220 total. Put it on there still no spark. Then, checked the timing SURPRISE it was 1 tooth. (After freaking 10k??? I mean seriously??? We went to las vegas from colorado in mid july. It was 110F almost everyday and havent gad any problem) Seems the tensioner was little loose. After an hour set the timing cranked it. Boom the car started. I was putting the tire back on and the turned off by itself after few minutes. Thought the freaking tensioner freaking me out and checked the timing but it was just fine. Still the same thing no spark after running few minutes. Checked the cam sensor wire with voltmeter. The pin #1 supposed to be battery voltage but it wasnt. The #pin 2 was 1.89 volts. I've put wire between the pin#1 and battery positive link. The car started up! I was so in a hurry since I left the car at the grocery store for a week so I tried back up the car it shut off again. I was done with it and towed the car to my house.
I was messing with the car few days later and the arrow on the dash was blinking the CEL was on and the fan was running if I crank it. Thought I messed with the ECM. There was no ground no more 1.89 volts and no battery voltage on the cam sensor wire. Went to the junkyard bought ECM from a v70. The code on the ECM was different. Mine was 5.2 but the one that bought was jk.2. Well havent had no choice so I bought it put it in there the car have started and ran for about 15mins and shut off again.
I have no idea what is wrong. The wires of the cam sensor and crank sensor tested fine
Anything would help
Thanx if u read everything haha it was long freaking story
