Update: the "lone roller" might be the culprit, looks like it is leaking bearing grease, and when I spin it in my hand its not as quiet as the other. It also feels just a little bit wobbly.
I just got a new one from warranty, will know soon if it was bad when I reassemble everything!

If you are talking about the Idler pulley, It shouldn't "spin" freely when turning it by hand. It should be a smooth rotation with a little drag to it.
If in fact you can spin it freely, it is probably your culprit. I just replaced mine and even the old pulleys were still stiff.

Yes, idler pulley, thank you! But you have to admit: my english is pretty good, learned from movies, Tom Waits, and Springsteen
Anyway, noise is still there
I feel I have done enough now: tensioner took the usual five to eight minutes to compress, pulleys are ok, covers where were they are supposed to be.
Thank you for your time, and if anything breaks I will tell you about it!

Sorry to hear the noise is still there. But I'm not sure if those are the two most intelligible guys to learn english from. Ha.
Have fun Dan.

I am not worried, its an old car, and still better than many newer cars. And I plan on putting the entire front end from it on a V70 when I can afford one with bad suspension and brakes. (I have replaced many things on my car, feels like new).
And dont look down on americas best contribution to the world! And I almost forgot Neil Young!
Have a nice day!

Mine is a '93 850 with a '96 front bumper. I don't mind working on it to make it a car worth driving. I've made it look better as well.
I took this photo yesterday after the timing belt job. I imagine the trees look good in Sweden as well this time of year.
By the way, Neil Young is Canadian. That's ok, I know that you mean North American
I hope your day is as nice. I appreciate Sweden for the car.
So Dan, I must now consider you an ambassador from Sweden if I may?

Have you found the cause of the problem?
