Can you share the source and link for the bearing here please Vtl?

Completely fine thread revival, updating info and congrats on that press now paying you back!

I’m made even happier by the fact that I have this job looming , too.

It is a Febest 45x75x19mm bearing. I ordered mine through W@lm@rt for just over $20+tax. Says it should get to me on Tuesday.

Mine was ordered 8 years ago, Ebay does not keep the purchase history for that long.

@vtl ... You jinxed it! :)

I needed to take the V70R for a short trip today and I no sooner made it out of the driveway and I started to get a weird once-per-tire-rotation clunk. I nursed the Volvo back to the house and up on ramps into the shop...the tripod joint boot had a crack and had spewed grease everywhere, so it seems to me the tripod joint has really gone south. Looks like what I thought was the axle carrier bearing noise may have actually been noise from the tripod joint.

A new GKN axle is on order (from FCP, the forum sponsor) - and it will include the new axle carrier bearing...so I won't get to use my press for that on the bearing that is due to arrive tomorrow. Oh well. At least I'll know that axle is taken care of.

And, anyone need an axle carrier bearing? Let me know ;)

Volvo axle lasts for about 10-15 years, depending on driving habits and local roads quality. I can jinx further, at this point my "replaced or repaired" list does not include only the fuel pump ;)

Be aware that GKN quality varies. I've got a new axle and it was good for 60k miles, and still is. Others got an apparently refurbished axles that were sometimes bad right out of the box. Just be prepared to replace it twice. At least warranty returns are easy with FCP.

Hey guys,

I've been trying to figure out how to replace this bearing too and could only find the 16mm version aswell. I did some more digging and managed to find the exact bearing thats originally on the cars, it's coded: 114-879-BTNG-2RS. Thought this might help some people so there's that

That seems correct as Volvo PN is 9181693.
Then may as well do the rubber boots x 2.

There is a YouTube video on an S40 (not S60) axle bearing change using angle grinder. It was a very nice video.

Since this thread came back to life, I thought I'd post the real conclusion for my situation.

My whine was actually the output bearing of the angle gear going bad. The angle gear puked and I had to replace it.

The GKN axles I installed have been working well.

Isnt part 9181693 a different one? For a lot of Volvos but not the p2's
