Overheating v70xc turbo awd

My daughters S70 had a head gasket seep for over a year and never over heated. As long as the water pump works and coolant is in the system it will drive fine. The problem is that a bad (not blown) head gasket will force coolant out somewhere and once the coolant is low it will overheat. So my daughter would actually take 600 mile road trips and was fine, until she got lazy and failed to let the car cool down and add coolant. It over heated and blew a hose. She added water, replaced the hose, and drove the car another 1,200 miles.

The system is simple, water pump, coolant hoses, radiator, and fan. If it's all the sudden over heating the water pump or fan is the likely problem if you have no leaks (the coolant level is good when the motor is cold).

If the head gasket is BLOWN and you are having massive fluid loss or transfer, you have already experienced an over heat and now you have 2 problems. The bad head gasket and the unresolved problem that started it all.
