2002 V70: is this stop neutral behavior?

I cannot find mention of it being removed in any of our service records. However, we are not the originial owners; it was a lease program car that we bought from a Volvo dealer with about 30k miles on it.

The basic question remains -- does what I described in the original post sound like behavior associated with the stop-neutral feature?

It would not have been that long ago and you MUST have known about it before now.
You can try to get the software installed, CHANGE THE FLUID ASAP and hope the tranny isn't totally damaged, but don't be surprised at your miles, with few to no fluid changes, that it's a goner
