The ABS will light up when the brake pedal switch is bad.
If you read the ABS codes with an ELM327, the ABS brake pedal switch DTC will manifest as ECU 01 raw hex DTC 65.
With Vol-FCR, I believe it is ABS-142.
Reading the ABS codes and/or examining the brake lights might help to totally rule out the brake pedal switch as a possibility.
If you have ECU 01 DTC 65 (ie, ABS-142), then clear it. If it then returns, it is likely you have a failing or failed brake pedal switch.
