2006 S60 ECM replacement question

Echo Precopster. If I would have checked the ECM disconnect on our 2005 it would have saved me the $350 I spent on a new throttle module. (That's what the fault codes pointed to.) The problem, as I see it, is that a failing connection often leads a technician to conclude that there's a failing component on one side of the connection or the other.
