Fuel pump / sending unit gasket? That did it for me on a Mazda with the same code...

This was the problem on my '98

Sort of hard to find. Passenger side, follow the tank filler pipe down to the tank and just start looking around.

thanks. i plan to replace that if i can get the right size hose. Do you know what diameter it is? You pretty much have to destroy that hose to get it removed. I'm going out in the boonies to fix this car and and generic bulk hose is all that I'll have to pick from at the local autoparts store. once you cut that hose to get it off you're committed and I want to know I can get a replacement before I cut it. Otherwise for a temporary repair I'm going to slather the ends with sealant to plug any holes.

Can one of you 1998 gurus get 98v70dad the sizes on all the hoses in the EVAP so he can come out prepared??

If you do go out with all the parts, you can probably dump the not used ones on this Forum for at least 1/2 back. I think (!!) most of our sponsors will take back an unopened part too.

I've got this project this weekend myself. Gonna be replacing the J-hose. I haven't looked at it but I am going to be replacing it while I'm down there even if it's not causing the evap code

Is your canister up front or back by the fuel tank?

That J-hose is the one (on my car at least) back under the rear passenger seat under the car.

I think the canister moved back in 1999 but your daughter can confirm this.

Remember to bring some vinyl gloves so she can do this next time!!
