There appears to be no clamp on the upper intercooler outlet hose ???

you'd definitely notice if there were no clamp on that hose. the big hoses blow off under boost if they're insufficiently clamped.

So tomorrow I will be checking the rest of the brake components once again. It seems like the shims are the most common fix for this problem, based on what I have been reading. I would really hate to throw money at items that don't need fixing..unless its preventative maintenance of course

So I am confused as to what I have been reading..should the arrows on the shims be pointing up or the direction of wheel rotation?

REAL NICE R
Nothing there out of the ordinary and much better than your average near 18 year old R!
If you're not sure have a mechanic go thru your rear brakes, rear rotors and E-brakes to find the problem
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

Thanks! I will make sure to do that today and report back to you guys on what the problem was. I might also do the timing belt just to be safe. Records show the tensioner was replaced at 127k, but not the actual belt itself

Gorgeous car!
About 4 years ago I had a terrible vibration on the rear brakes too (on my '97 855), and I replaced the rotors and pads and installed the stainless steel 'half' shims all at the same time. I used ATE rotors and Volvo blue box pads. The vibration problem was solved and hasn't come back... I couldn't tell if it was due to replacing the rotors or installing the shims, or both.

Thank you. I will look into making those repairs as well and reporting back. Hopefully it cures it..it really makes the car sort of annoying to drive.
