However I used Karlyn on one job and they wouldn't go in squarely on both sides after repeated attempts and they were fitted with a small .5mm gap from the mating surface. Online feedback about Karlyn joints suggests the same results.
I can speak for Lemförder - a good fit.

Getting in was less of a worry then removing. I can't see how to remove them. The Volvo directions suggest a special tool that looks like a slide hammer, but I only have a jack so I can't raise the car enough.

Any secrets to removing them would be appreciated.

Thanks
John

SAFETY FIRST: Do not use a slidehammer or any high impact tool with the car on jack stands!

Take the steering knuckle off, remove the side bolts holding the BJ to knuckle, and then use a slidehammer to remove the BJ. It took me like 3 minutes per side once the knuckles were off. (I rented this Slidehammer from Autozone for free: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/access ... id=2831515)

To istall the BJs, I used Mike's method (with a 6" piece of steel conduit, nicely deburred); my BJs came equipped with protective plastic covers as they were Lemförder. Before istall, clean the mating surfaces thoroughly and lube the BJ seat in the knuckle with bearing grease lightly.

Do not forget to measure and record the strut to steering knucle distance prior to disassembly. When done with the BJs, you will have to reinstall the knuckles in the same positions to maintain camber.
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that
