Hoping for a long fall this year because I wanted to replace the timing belt, tensioners, and water pump too.

Re: 94 Volvo 850 T5 - Time to replace rear suspension bushin
The how to writeups are very helpful. Thank you! Now I need to build up a little courage to do it.
Looks pretty involved and it would definitely be a first for me. I would replace the end links and delta links while the rear axle is taken all apart. Hopefully it will leave me with some more room to replace the aging flexible brake lines as well.

With the summer sales coming to a close I'm more interested than ever to replace my delta end links. Do you recommend the OEM Volvo ones ($180 a piece) or can I get away with the version that is easier on the wallet ($36 a piece)?
I'm sure OEM Volvo is preferred, but just curious on how the other ones have held up compared to OEM.
Thanks everyone!

I used the Scan Tech version several years ago and after 150k miles or so they are still fine. Things change rapidly in the parts world and I don't know if the current offering is any good or not.
That is the one and only Scan Tech item that I have ever used and been happy with.

My 1999 s70 delta end-link (rear passenger) started thumping at slow right hand turns, mostly when leaving driveway approaches. The rear of the car was also not level, leaning slightly toward the driver side. Mechanic said rear was not out of alignment, but the tracking was greatly improved after replacement. Must have been related to the uneven geometry of the torsion axle. All other components did not need replacement. Had to bring it to a frame shop, my usual mechanic saw too many potential problems. Cost $425.00

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I wanted to provide an update and ask a question.
I got the delta end links replaced on the Turbo and I notice a difference in how my car rides and handles. Much improved!
Although, one small issue has appeared. After the new end links were installed the rear tires rub along the inner fender liner when I pull into a driveway. The area is closest to the frame and rear bumper on both sides. This evening will provide a picture later for reference. Before replacing the end links the rear tires didn't rub against the fender liners. I have 18" Pegasus wheels installed currently. The rubbing sound is gone in normal driving situations unless the car is in a turn and leans to either side.
Would pushing down the trailing arm when removing / installing the end links cause this?

The car hasn't had an alignment yet... Is an alignment needed after replacing the trailing arm bushings too?Did you have it aligned after installing the trailing arm bushings?
I thought an alignment was required if I replaced the transverse arm bushings. Decided to wait on those until they were needing replacement.

I looked at Lee's guide again and yes an alignment is recommended. I'm sorry guys.

I will call the alignment shop tomorrow morning and report back if it fixes the issues. Good news is my rear tires seem ok and not overly worn down.
