Ramps would be advisable :)
OK, dumb question. Most posts says the evap canister is in front of the rear passenger tire or I have seen some say it's by the gas tank.

You have indicated that it's behind the bumper on the driver's side. So I have a 98 V70 T5 (not AWD). I'm thinking mine is where yours is located. Here's a picture. Is this the evap canister on the lower left? Note that the thing on the upper right is the back of the foglamp in the front bumper on the driver's side.

It looks like it's held in place by a bracket with one bolt. Sound good?

That's it,,,that black rectangular box on the left of your pic.

In 1999, it moved to the back pass rear wheel (US models)

Great, thanks for the confirmation.
I dropped it the other day and took a look at the 3 hoses going into. My hoses appeared to be in pretty good shape and there was no damage that I could see. Sigh, I think I'm going to need to get a smoke test or something to find my P0455. I've already tried the easy stuff (Gas cap, purge valve).

So it goes.

I don't know if the '98 AWD V70 style has the roll-over valve near the fuel filter, but if it does and you haven't checked it, I would recommend inspecting the two rubber hoses that connect that valve to the hard lines. On my '97 855 those hoses were damaged and when I replaced them my P0455 code was resolved for several years (before coming back again due to a failed Evap purge valve -- also replaced).
1997 855 GLT (Light Pressure Turbo) still going strong. Previous: 1986 240 GL rusted out in '06, 1985 Saab 900T rusted out in '95, 1975 Saab 99 rusted out in '95, 1973 Saab 99 rusted out in '94
