I have used black Permatex on that particular PCV junction, just a thin layer.

Any resolution on the bearing noise?

None on the bearing noise, Erik, but it is almost imperceptible. I really need for it to become more pronounced to begin to know where to start looking. What's I'd really like to be able to do though, is fix my squeaking dash, but that isn't a cold weather job. I'd love to find a good used lower dash, but I'm afraid all of my vintage will have the same problem. I guess I could repair mine, but the edge along the base of the windshield has two back-to-front cracks. Sounds like I'm hosting a New Year's Eve party for mice if I traverse a road that has anything other than smooth-as-glass pavement.
