'99 v70: New strut too long through plate?

Got it. Our V70 has 203K and hope to get another 50K. Thanks for this advice!!!

Stay away from aftermarket at all cost.

Stock "BOGE" OEM S70 spring seat ~ $25 (rmeuropean dot com, autohausaz dot com).
Check Volvo OEM XC90 seat, it is about $35 or so.
2004 V70 2.5T 100K+
2005 XC90 2.5T 110K+

Plus so many counterfeits and false OEM claims on eBay(in general), this part should probably come from a reputable retailer or the dealer.
