2005 S60R Air Bag Light... Does this explanation make sense

So... looking at an 2005 S60R stick with 131k... priced right but the airbag light is on. Here's the explanation.... seller says he took out the battery and replaced it and that's when the light came on. Says the dealer needs to reset it and it should be quick and easy. I think if it's that easy he'd just take it and have it done.

Thoughts?

Tell the seller to take it to the dealer and get it reset.

He won't, because there is a module fault and that will expose a 2000 usd repair.

Negotiate accordingly.

FWIW: if you can get the car for an inspection, you might also want to see what a local dealer or Volvo-specialist indy (i.e. someone with the DICE/VIDA interface, NOT a regular scan tool) thinks of the car. As they could read any stored codes too indicating other problems.

As oragex mentioned there *is* a few benign reasons that SRS light can come on, although it should take more than just switching the battery. But maybe he didn't want to mention he was fiddling with the instrument cluster or something who knows. But it is odd he'd be too cheap to clear such a simple issue that will put off a lot of buyers...
