With my V70 2000 P80 non turbo with 5 speed auto transmission I can only reset adaptation and fluid counter reset using pirated Vida. I can drive cycle any P2 though. I can't perform the learning drive cycle on my P80 as the menu is simply not there. Not sure if that applies to your C70. Adaptation is very slow without the drive cycle and can take over 1,000 kms

VIDA can read your TCM to give software version info, but downloads require a subscription. Common wisdom seems to be scan it yourself, but if updates required, go to trusted garage and pay for it. Search the MVS repair database by category, you'll see the threads on B4 cover and on 55-50 s/n trans. Check your car's build date as referenced in Tryingbe's post. The stop-neutral feature put extra demands on these transmissions when they were young. That feature was taken out by a dealer available update once upon a time.

1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

226 F in the cooling system is normal under load or even at idle. The hot weather isn't relevant to that measurement.

If a PO ran pure water for any length of time I would check for engine damage from overheating ..cylinder head gasket and compression leaks especially.

Compression test done, 150 psi across all 5 cylinders. There's no coolant loss anymore. I am going to run Vida and see what software version I have, which one should it be to be the most current one? I will check build date of the car. Does it say on the data plate on the fender beside the battery? The b4 cover I researched and now know what it is. it affects the 3-4 shifting. Mine doesn't have that as much as 2-3 so I am not going to bother with that for the moment. hopefully it need the software update and it will be good again. Fluid that came out was medium red in color and transparent. No metal shavings showing in the fluid or on the magnetic plug. Sticking solenoids or software update is the question?

sounds like that is what it's narrowed down to. Rather than a friction modifier like lucas etc... maybe try a cleaner like seafoam trans stuff, then another round of drain and fills. If there is gunk on the solenoids, maybe you can dissolve it. Once you find the software that is loaded, inquire at the dealer service dept.

yes, that's on my list also. I have enough trans fluid for another fill so i'll get the seafoam and drive the car for 5-10 mile with it inside the trans and drain and refill. let's see what comes out

thanks! Will post what software is installed when I hook up Vida

Ok,
I hooked Vida up to the car this afternoon. I checked the "Diagnosis" part and all the control modules were green. There were 2 spots that said software and the first one said 0009480893B the other below said 0030622247A are those the most recent? I am hoping not and that with a software update the trans will shift fine!!! Oh, one other thing I did was to activate the solenoids. Solenoid 1 and 4 I could not hear "click" I think solenoid 4 is for reverse, and that is working fine. The other 3 solenoids I tried to activate as well but didn't hear anything. That may be normal though....... it only went from 1.0 ma to 0.95ma

Ok so I went to move the car out of the garage yesterday and noticed white smoke coming out the tailpipe when backing it out........... let the car idle while I was doing other things....... drove it for a bit. when temp went up I could smell the sweetness of antifreeze! Damn!! Then I checked the oil and confirmed it........ it wasn't much water/antifreeze getting in the crankcase but there is ......... not good. This is a 2.3. What is strange is that sometimes there's no colored smoke coming out of the tailpipe at all........... I tested compression and they were all at 150. This in conjunction with the transmission problem (allthough it has been improving since last posts) I think i'm going to dump this car for something better......... The white smoke started when I replaced the hose going to the radiator from the reservoir that has a slit in it. I take it that the pressure is now building up and it's pushing past the head gasket? And I am now using antifreeze instead of water that the PO used. Anyone had luck with blue devil?? Or something similar?

The oil cooler on the sump has coolant running through it. This can breach and make people jump to an incorrect diagnosis. At least bypass the cooling hoses on the oil cooler first to see if the fluids still mix......worth a try.

I already bought a new oil cooler and installed it............ there's a LOT of water coming into the crankcase, even after just a short drive. Is it possible the new one is also no good and leaking??? The compression test I did showed all the cylinders at 150................ but I do get the white smoke out the tail pipe and the smell of burning antifreeze though. That would not be the case if it was the oil cooler...............
