In an AT equipped R i have the same motor as you have in the t-5r. I'd say at full boost there is like 3/16 inch left on the gauge. I thought that is where it should be.

You're absolutely right. I was looking at the car in your profile thingy there, the GLT, and just ignored everything else, apparently. My bad. :)

You might also take a look at the plug wires. At high power settings, they will not work as well when they get older. Just a thought.

Thanks, plugs and wires are on my stage 0 list anyway. just a bit further down ;-)

As for plugs everyone seems to recommend OEM Volvo and the Volvo or Bougicord wires for Turbo cars, right?

You will find a slightly wider range of opinion on the plugs, although everyone agrees the OEM ones are terrific.

Bougicord wires are bulletproof. When new.

I found the OEM plugs and Volvo or Bougicord wires work the best for the Volvo 850. Not cheap, but they work best. Mine had a similar problem, went back to OEM plugs and changed wires, fixed the problem. Just a thought, yours may be something different.

I just came across this old thread of mine and can Close the case: I put new Volvo plugs, Bourgicord wires and a Volvo (guess Bosch) rotor in a few months ago. It has been running very steady ever since. This also cured the slight misfires I had in rainy or humid weather.

I also drained the ATF a few times, did the PCV twice (second time with the larger hose mod). Now everything is good.
