Yes, that DIY solution has been posted about several times in this forum. You should check into it before doing it, the key point is these are high pressure lines so you need to take a little care in doing it. Or take the lines to a hydraulics repair shop for that process, still much cheaper if they rebuild them. Search button is your friend!

@ferocity02,
1+ to what erikv11 said but...
Search forum for cutting crimp and use Oetiker clamps (I wrote similar DIY for ATF cooler lines).
With oil pressure anywhere between 7 psi and 50-60 psi, a good oil hose (look for "Gates brand name") and use 2 Oetiker clamps per connection.
- Re Green O-rings: in my case, I remove the rectangular plate and flip it around so it bites on the green O-rings better.
- The issue of how high a pressure an Oetiker clamp can handle. Below is a youtube video of garden hose. You can see that the Oetiker clamp holds very well up to 15-25 bars (up to 200 psi+).
So, if you use a good Gates hose and 2 Oetiker clamps/barb fitting, you will be fine. In fact, this is the way people in this forum do it.
