Re: VVIS controller 850
search the database for post from user ben850, he has/had a controller on one of his cars, and the write-up was in here. Check the performance/mods sections
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Can he supply you with the circuit details?
I think the mod was pretty effective From memory the factory setup opens the 2nd stage at 4,000 revs and can be a little flat in mid range.
Razorx's setup broughr that shift point down and gave greater midrange torque.
Perhaps something simpler like extra vacuum at the solenoid will do the trick or a vacuum pump activated by a relay at 3,000 tevs (you'll still need a circuit board)
Edit: just realised that you don't need this now. Great info

Did two other things this morning :
1. Disconnected the tube from exhurst manifold to airfilter and screw the plate that allows hot air into filter closed, so only cold air comes in.
2. Changed the intake tube that leads air into filter with a bigger 76 mm.
These two things gave better response.
Now that I got more and colder air into the engine would bigger injectors then help if the old ones has reached their limit ?

Different injectors make zero difference unless the ECU is reprogrammed to change the fuel delivery. And there is no tuning that I know of for NA ECUs.
Since you live in the far north, be careful with that airbox mod if you do long distance driving, rarely it can result in a frozen throttle body. If you do short drives that frequently change the throttle position then there is no risk at all.

I only drive short trips (normaly less than 20 miles - in the summer some times longer).
I still have all the old parts and can change it back in less than 15 min.
Just wonder if the standard injectors are limit to deliver a small amount of fuel and then bigger ones would do more.
