Re: 850 sedan real spare tire that fits
As long as you're not driving an AWD, a smaller, 15" steely wheel is fine back there (and fitment will be great- still better than a donut tire.

10 years ago, I went on eBay and bought 1 Antlia (15") Volvo wheel in decent shape to use as a full size spare. I think it has a 205/60-15 on it. I just waited until I needed tires and picked the best one of the two that had around 6/32nds left and swapped the eBay wheel in there to have a new tire mounted with the other three. Already balanced and proven. Worked great. I did however forget that that tire had been plugged at some point. Oh well. Can't have everything perfect.
With that size wheel and tire, the trunk 'floor' of my S70 is now very well supported (much more than with the space saver). It is up against the floor but does not lift the floor level at all. Plus I have room for all manner of gear inside and outside of the wheel: Jumper cables, good heavy ones, not the Chinese crap. A 12v bike air compressor and a foot operated pump (now both of those are Chinese crap), a cheap tarp, a rain poncho, a first aid kit, assorted tools, some hand cleaner, a towel, and about a dozen red rags. I know I've forgotten a few things. I'd put some harbor freight nitrile gloves in there but I'm afraid what the Texas heat would do to them.

I had a 205 50 16 columba in the back of a 850 wagon. No problem. Is that bigger than a sedan?

The wagon and sedan spare tire wells are the same. Only difference is if the wagon one has an attachment for third row seat belt.

I found a 97 850 turbo wheel at a junk yard that looks a lot like mine, then ordered a tire from walmart, a 205 45 R16 for $54. The tire just fits into the spare tire well, once in, it doesn't move. I have about 3mm of clearance between the tire and the carpet towards the bumper and 0mm towards the seats. A 205 50 R16 would be 3/4 inch bigger in diameter, move up the ramp, and cause a small hump.
