Mysterious Dying Engine when Return to Idle. Alternator? Battery? Other?

Ah. Plus one for battery. My 2000 V70 was running great except for the persistent stalling at idle. Tried MAF, fuel filter, air filter. Finally decided to disconnect battery in order to reset ECU. Found both cables loose on posts - took them off by hand. I did leave them off all afternoon to go ahead and clear codes I'd developed tinkering with MAF. Everything worked great after reconnecting.
