Re: Help Diagnosing my S70

MattsS70 wrote:I knew nobody would believe me when I posted that about the red S70. I've done a bunch of research and have never found anything on a RWD S70 but I swear to you guys I had one! It was a red 1997 S70 with a naturally aspirated I-5 and rear wheel (not AWD)! I know it's weird. I bought it in Fairfax Virginia back in 2009 had it for a couple of years and sold it. That car is why I fell in love with these cars!
Trust me, I know my cars, I have worked for Ford motor company since 1996 and I'm an avid car guy! I have a Mustang GT, A 2014 Focus ST and the two Volvos!
Well, a conversion to AWD is certainly possible, but for RWD only, you'd have to turn the engine "sideways" (as opposed to what it is normally... hardy-har-har) wouldn't you?

You know, It really makes no difference to me if anyone on here believes me or not about the '97. I didn't come here to start a debate and be called a liar, I came here for some advise on my current car and I thank those who provided me some guidance.

On driving the car this morning, (and it's the 2000 I'm having issues with), It appears the ABS and BRAKE lights come on and the Speedo checks out intermitantly, and when I go over a bump the speedo comes back online and the trouble lights go out, so I'm thinking more like it may actually be a loose wire. I'll check that this afternoon...

By the way, attached are pics of the '97 which in itself is cool, since it's one of the earlier S70's...I wish I would have kept it!

Thanks...But I know what Wiki says, I've done the research on this myself. I also know, after working for an Auto Manufacturer for 20 years, that there are a lot of cars out there on the road that shouldn't exist. For example, a 1999 MY Mercury Cougar with a 4 cylinder Automatic never made it to production, yet I drove one for over a year. This happens in the Auto Industry all the time. Maybe it's that, maybe its not, I don't know...

Don't mind Misha's eyerolling. The fact is that your RWD S70 did NOT roll off a factory assembly line as an RWD. That doesn't mean it didn't exist, and I think that most of us (except Misha) just would like to know how it came to be. It's a fairly extensive modification, and someone would have had to have good reasons behind it. Or lots of insanity. ;)

I seem to recall someone who converted their 850 to AWD, and then it somehow ended up as RWD, but I don't remember where I saw that. It was an extensive process, is all I'm saying (and even then, RWD wasn't the goal  ).

Below is a photo of the label on my ETM....I also had a couple other symptoms manifest and fixed one thing...I know it's not the ABS modual, I found a loose connection on the ABS and once connected all those faults went away.

Now I have a check engine light and a slight "stumble" when I take off from a stop...Sometimes (like when going up a steep hill) the power drops and the stumble becomes a loss of power. Very irritating! I want this fixed, It's such a beautiful car!!
