OP is driving a V70R. Brake lines are different on AWD and FWD. AWD have 4 flexi-hoses, one at each caliper, not like the FWD which has the 4 flexis, but the 2 rears are not at the caliper.
If you plan to replace the flexis, a good quality brake line wrench of 11mm is worth all the money as you do not want to damage the RH rear flexi to hardline join which is difficult to access at the jacking point.
I spent a lot and bought a Snap-on tool and it has been faultless so far in operation. Give the joints a good soaking in Deep Creep or the likes and let it soak for a few days and keep repeating until you do the job.
Another possibility is the rear flexi lines are failing internally, so time to replace.
Neil.

Thanks for the insight.
Ive been working on this car for about 2 years and have replaced quite a few parts myself - including full PCV system, various engine hoses, radiator, plug/ wires/ distributor, cam seals, front rear shocks/ struts/ mounts...and more.
I come from the Audi world and find these cars to be very different, except they both share the common theme of hard-to-access components.
