Glad you got it sorted. You're fortunate that you found one of the same year.

Quite simply the software part numbers were matching between 2 different DDMs because they are off cars of similar build years. Part numbers on the outside of a DDM don't give any clue to what the programming is inside however if they're from the same year of car then you might get a match with internal software. Same goes for ETMs, CCMs and a bunch of other modules.

The 2003 and on DDMs were actually revised and more reliable than pre 2003s. Loading software into later DDM and PDMs also takes around half the time.

I'm guessing there were fewer software revs on the DIMs than the ETMs.

A few years ago, just after I purchased the car, I replaced the DIM using the same "number matching" method, avoiding any reprogramming. All this adds an extra twist to the parts shopping process. What fun!!!!

Ive discovered my DDM is doing the same thing although it sometimes also does not work when engine is off. My findings so far 99% works when off. 80% works when engine running. 2nd weird thing Tested using two DDM's .Im thinking a CAN BUS traffic jam??
