Is your gas cap on tight with 3 clicks and have you checked the cap gasket?
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

I'm not sure if you can hear it, never tested with the car not running otherwise it would be loud to hear. When I first got the car it had that code and that was the only thing I did and many years on it has never re-appeared. My J hose is fine.bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑14 Aug 2017, 14:57That's interesting. Do you know if they're supposed to click? Both mine and my cousin's purge valves click pretty loudly, and we both have an occasional P0455 appear. Maybe this fix will work?
Funny this thread came up, P0442 popped up today. Oddly enough, without its best friend P0455. Car's running like crap again... I guess it had a good weekend after replacing the alternator.

There are days that on my cousins car, you can hear the valve from inside the car with it running. Mind you he had a cherry bomb muffler too...mecheng wrote: ↑15 Aug 2017, 12:59I'm not sure if you can hear it, never tested with the car not running otherwise it would be loud to hear. It almost sounds like a muffled rod knock.
I hear it in my engine bay a little bit, and if I put my hand on it, it's definitely clicking.

My PV has always been undetectable with the engine running. The injectors have always been noisy. Inside, you can't hear anything at idle. Even the motor. Don't feel any vibration either. New motor mounts fixed that.
It is constantly opening & closing. Whenever the engines running.
I do have a J-hose even though the sled came out of the barn in Aug. 1997. Hey....that means she's officially 20yrs old now! Ye-haw! Perhaps I should finally fix the #$%^! cheap-@$$ leather on both front seats! It looks horrible. Doesn't hold up here in Heat + Humidity + Sweat + Body Oil. The back seats look brand new. That's the difference: They're never used.

My car is also quiet inside with the engine running, thankfully. Most noise while driving is thanks to the dash... I'll fix that eventually.
