It is just simpler to ask the adjuster to keep the estimate under the total loss number, then you keep your car and collect a check. June

This very thing happened to an MVS member about a year ago. Chicago? Hit and run, smashed the Volvo's side. Can't search right now, on mobile, with a friend.

Last year was a dark red one. Very nice car.

I hope they let your son keep it. You could probably still try not to get any money out of the insurance company and fix it uo yourself. That is, if no critical parts of the structure are bent.

Driver had an insurance card but Geico says it is not an active policy, maybe he fell
behind on payments or changed the date.

My son has no collision at all, the cars are not worth much at all anyway.

It turns out that the last car we scrapped had the same size tires as the Volvo
they were fairly new so I saved them in the shed. I think we are set for tires.

Plan is to get the Volvo going, they can get by with one car.
Then buy something like a decent mid 2000 Ford Focus and keep the Volvo for
when they have to go in opposite directions.

Pete - you may be falling under uninsured motorist coverage - although that might be only liability. Obviously state and policy dependent.
