Replaced starter but engine won't fire up

If you route the cam sensor wire too close to the distributor, the distributor signal masks out the cam sensor signal and the engine dies. This happened to me when the dealer had worked on our 93 850GLT. They wanted me to buy a new sensor and have them fit it for 1.5 hrs labour. I bought a new one and fitted it in 10 minutes. I later tested the old one and it was near the limits of the resistance values for the spec, but it was still good.
