I have had all the exact same issues with my 2003 s60. Everything sounds just like the issues that I have. I have taken it into a repair shop for Volvo’s twice. The first time they said the wiring harness was loose and it was working fine after they pulled the ECM and TCM and cleaned all the connectors. This was over the summer. The next summer the issues popped up again. Took it back to the shop. They cleaned corrosion off of the connectors and said the car was working fine. It did until this summer and same issues pop up. Through my research I have heard of the water leak issue. I have also heard that they cold soldered the ECM and TCM and they have a tendency to go bad. Xemodex is the place everyone recommends to have them re-soldered and repaired. But it’s quite a bit of money.
Did you ever have a resolution with your issue?

There is a Heat soak issue with the CEM that people have fixed by attaching a heat sink. I’ll try to find the threads

Thanks for the follow up Nikki, I’ll try to find the heat sink thread too.
Here is one. Once the CEM is out, apparently it’s about a $20 fix to put an Al heat sink on major chips on the CEM
Starting 2005, the CEM comes with heat sinks...

Longer thread here..I haven’t found any pictures of the heat sink implementation or parts used, unfortunately.
