Wrap will look more like a new paint job compared to PlastiDip but will cost more than it and should be done by a shop - unless you're only going to do small sections, then it might be worth tinkering around to see what you can do. Wrap will cover up any peeling clearcoat but it won't stop it from continuing to peel.
My paint looks great still on the body, it is the paint on the plastic strips that run from the bottom of the windshield across the roof to the bottom of the rear glass that is peeling. If I had my car I would snap a picture of the strips I am talking about. I would peel the rest of the clear off each strip ahead of time with a blade. My car is Ice White.

Can you snap a close up picture of the roof? How long has the wrap been on? I assume it will not hurt the factory paint.? I like the idea of preserving the factory paint for one thing. Another thought I had is the wrap being plastic, bugs and other fallout will not damage the paint underneath. June

Sorry for the delay people, it’s been raining every time I get a free afternoon. I was able to wrap the mirror cap and base tonight, wasn’t tough to do at all. This material is like nothing I’ve worked with before, it’s pretty forgiving and lays down nicely. I might redo the mirror cap because I may have stretched it a bit too much, but we’ll see how it holds up, I’m probably just being paranoid. Sorry I didn’t get a before pic, I’ll be sure to take plenty of before and during install pics as I work my way around the rest of the car. One thing I’ll add, this stuff doesn’t hide anything, every little blemish under it shows. It’ll be good on my car but I wouldn’t recommend using it in an attempt to hide scratches or dings, it won’t work. Anyway here’s what I got done so far, I think it’s turned out pretty good. Ignore the peeling paint on the mirror mount, it’s getting fixed before I put it back together.

Wow! That looks great! It looks like paint. Those mirror covers are $150 per side at Volvo for new ones. I just replaced the driver's side one on my car due to being chewed off by a car wash. Thank You for posting the photos, June

It impressed me honestly, I didn’t think it would look as good as it does. Everything looks good on the internet so I thought it might be less shiny or not as smooth as it appears, but it’s a pretty awesome product. A friend of mine did his car and apparently the mirrors were the biggest pain, if that’s the case, I’ve got this thing whipped. I used to do upholstery so I think it helped with the stretching, tucking and whatnot, seems like a very similar skill set. I’m looking forward to doing the rest of the car, I’ll be away til Sunday and will probably knock out a few panels on Monday. It’s just me doing it and I’m taking everything apart so I can get a good tuck on all of the edges, so it’ll take a while to complete.

Please post photos as you go. If it comes out as good as the mirrors the car is going to look great! June

The wrap will slow the fading of the paint so if I pulled it off, the roof would be a darker red, just not sure how much. Keeping it in a garage will help reduce the fade.

If there's any damage to your paint, this may increase the damage, especially if it's peeling, cracking or spider webbing.

I've had the wrap on since June '14 and it's still in good shape, although I think it's lost some of it's shine. Not too bad, just need to toss some wax or sealant on it it and it'll be looking better.

As I mentioned, I can't say the installer did a great job and you might notice some minor issues in the pics but for the most part I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

Before attempting to do it yourself or having a shop do it, I'd strongly suggest the car is washed & clayed to ensure nothing comes between paint & wrap.

Started doing a fender this afternoon, unfortunately the piece I was using had a decent imperfection in it and I had to peel it back off. It went on easy though and the color is great, just had that imperfection I couldn’t live with. I had hoped it would come out with heat as I installed it, but it remained, probably just a manufacturing defect. I’m hoping metro restyling will send me out some extra material.
