Yes they are or were my personal cars.
The two Volvos I did head gasket repairs on are no longer in my fleet, but for the time after I owned them they were fine. One about 10k, another about 25k before they were sold.
The two current cars I still have with VR valve stem seals are a BMW X3 going fine after 40k and a RR 4.4 going fine after 10k.
Having done around 10 heads in my life, I do agree that some valve stem seals are of lesser quality than others. Those have been bought off Ebay (non-branded but "OEM" claim) and upon inspection not used.

You just can't go wrong with Victor Reinz and Mahle products.
