I might be pushing the limits with this one -
Matt have you considered reworking the wrench in hand logo? Its really '70s-ish' with two design elements (wrench, hand) that current thinking/logo design would probably say the 'hands on' implication would be understood through a simpler, cleaner logo incorporating just the wrench. And, uhhh on a T-shirt you also wouldn't assume that the acronym "MVS" can stand alone. Especially on a T-shirt... you want to ensure that upon closer examination a bystander can determine what organization the logo is associated with, either incorporated into the logo, or elsewhere in smaller lettering formatted for memory retention/easy recall.

Being a car enthusiast site...something...that might even be passable as a replacement grille badge...along the lines of...***

***rough mock up: be nice I don't have real photoshop to work with, just an ancient discontinued adobe program from the windows98 era..it uses with layers *and* backgrounds which most free image editors don't do or don't do both. And I can't seem to do much of anything even basic without those both of those functions at hand.

I kinda like that last one. Agree with others though, the dark shirts with big rectangular box background color looks super meh. Go for something a little more subtle and simple (less busy!). Looking forward to what you come up with!

I agree - No Box...
And I really miss the old MVS cog. You could drop it in where the yellow dot is:

And get that URL out there - Something like this would be great on the sleeve.

The second set is much better, elegant simplicity like a Volvo.

Wondering about the shirt color(s). What you all think about designing the shirts around classic Volvo colors like Cream Yellow, Saffron metallic ... ect.

For a dark color shirt sleeve I'd probably tweak the design more along this line:

I don't have a good brushed metal effect to use with this rather dated PS software, but that would be the general idea.

Mr Brian, I don't know if this will fly or not but I'll toss it out as an idea. Turn the wrench head into box end then rotate it to mimic the Volvo logo. If you make the box end wrench head a 12 point, there will more room inside .. might be able to fix MVS inside the wrench head.

Mimic the Volvo corporate logo too much, Matt might get a call from brand protection. I thought about adding an arrow pointing to the upper right then backed away from the idea for that reason. The word 'Volvo' in the URL is purposely *not* blue under the same premise.

If Mat were to adopt the design or use it as a basis for something fresh and new, he'd want to recreate it from scratch at least 4x the resolution that this basic concept pieced together from low res screen captures is.

Easy work around. Don't mimic the Volvo logo mimic the ancient chemical symbol for iron — a circle with an arrow pointing diagonally upwards to the right. The combination of the word Volvo which means "I roll" and the chemical symbol for iron, suggest "I roll Iron". A wrench head in the position would suggest "Wrench Iron" the two are not the same.
