Coolant sensor has potential to be the issue. Let’s assume the wiring is broken or shorted in such a way that computer thinks that engine is hot all of the time. If so, the computer would not properly enrich fuel/air ratio as required for cold engine,but would run fine when warm. Is this the case? I don’t really know for sure. I’d have to look into it further but the right answer is to just fix it. This signal is going to ECU for a reason.
I sold off my 240s a few years back but I remember something about harness issues going through firewall.
Do you have an ohm meter and know how to use it? If so, I can probably walk you through it. If not, you could send car to mechanic or buy a meter and watch YouTube videos to learn how to use it.

Sounds about right to me. I can get the meter this weekend. I got the position crank sensor off and it looked fine. Cleaned it up a bit and damn it was a pain getting that bolt back on. Cleared the codes. I noticed that maybe the wiring harness from the CTS had been cut and re wired. When I got a little time I’ll examine the harness and wires see what’s going on. Sorry, I wasn’t clear enough on CTS. You didn’t need to take it off, just inspect the wiring. The insulation gets brittle and breaks off. After that the wiring shield gets disturbed and signal gets EMI. Bottom line is that car stalls intermittently and won’t always start due to compromised CTS wiring. This doesn’t sound like your particular issue at the moment so it is just a watch item. If the code keeps coming back, I’d fix it also though. I broke down multiple times on Highway with 2 different 240s due to this one.

Update
Long story short I had to replace the coolant temperature sensor with a Bosch coolant sensor and I ran some sea foam in the crankcase fuel and vacuum lines And my codes cleared and stayed cleared car is starting up a lot better and running good! Previous coolant temp sensor was purchased through Napa and I guess if it’s not Bosch or Volvo it’s just trash. Thanks everyone for the help!
