2005 V70 loses power codes for cam and fuel

I would tackle this with an independent fuel pressure measurement if the dealer doesnt give you joy. You can borrow a gauge from a FLAPS if you don't have one

Order a fuel pressure sensor by VIN, there are some chassis breaks in the supply chain on this part in the XC90 models , not sure about the XC70

FCP says 31272730 by Bosch is your part, confirm in VIDA or at dealer

Volvo part $200, Bosch $60

They put in a new fuel pressure sensor with no results. That appears to be the extent of their repair abilities, the car was sent off to their local Volvo specialist. IMHO should have gone their first, but better late than never.

That sounds like the classic Aluminum heat sink corrosion screwing up the PEM - see shockwave thread in the (XC90 Forum)

Update - the dealer replaced the fuel pressure sender. No more CELs is the good news, the bad news is the fuel pump seems to run full blast all the time. Very noisy. I looked up the part number and they put the wrong one on - it is for a 2.5 liter turbo

I am about done with them, I ordered the correct sender and am going to put it on myself. One really odd thing: My MPG went from about 24 to 32. Not complaining, but

If it's still under warranty have them pay for the correct pump you ordered. If you decide to DIY then sell the new 2.5L T pump to me.

Did you get a rich fuel mixture code when the failed pump was bursting high or did the sensor take care of it?

Not the pump - the $34 fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail. There is a turbo and N/A version of it.I never got a rich mixture code.

FPS failures are VERY common. So much so that Volvo OK’d a one time free replacement for certain VIN numbers. Have the dealer check to see if your car is included.

Success!

I took off the wrong fuel pressure sensor and put on the right one. No weird fuel pump noises and no codes.
Fuel pressure looks good so far. I don't think I would have ever figured this out except I read in some thread somewhere that turbo fuel sensor on non turbo car = fuel pump noise.

Meanwhile the cam solenoid code seems to have solved itself.
